Election of Master and Wardens 2015-2016

The Master for the year is Michael Neal.

Michael and his wife Sophie have a son and daughter and live in Sussex. He was educated at Eton, St Andrew’s University and University College, London. Since 2000 he has been the Managing Director of St Anselm, his family property and construction group of companies based in London.

His family have a long standing connection to the Carpenters’ Company (his father was Master in 1997) and Michael is also a Liveryman of the Loriners’ Company (his great-grandfather was Master for two consecutive years during WWII). He is a Member of the Council of the City and Guilds of London Institute as the Carpenters’ Company representative.

Michael manages his family’s sheep and arable farm in Sussex as well as his garden, which has a collection of meconopsis and rare trees. Gardening, history of art, food, shooting and fishing are all particular interests of his. He is also a Trustee of the William Robinson Gravetye Trust (a Trust of the Forestry Commission) and a Member of the International Dendrology Society and Royal Scottish Forestry Society.

The Senior Warden for the year is Mr Alistair Gregory-Smith, the Middle Warden is Mrs Rachel Bower and the Junior Warden is His Honour Judge Peter Birts, QC. The Company’s Clerk is Brigadier Tim Gregson, MB
