Wood Awards 2014

Ditchling Museum of Art + Craft by Adam Richards Architects won the Arnold Laver Gold Award in the 2014 Wood Awards competition at the winners’ ceremony in Carpenters’ Hall on the 18th November.

The Diamond Jubilee Fenland Black Oak Project

Early in 2012, a unique 5,000 year old sub-fossilized trunk of an ancient giant oak tree was discovered in the Fens of Ely in Cambridgeshire. Such oak is usually referred to as “bog oak” but, having gained permission from Buckingham Palace, we are referring to the project to preserve and utilize this remarkable find as the “Diamond Jubilee Fenland Black Oak Project”.

Bishop Edward King Chapel by Niall McLaughlin Architects has taken the Gold Award in this year’s Wood Awards 2013 competition.

The Master of the Company Martin Mosley presented the prize to the winner in the Under 20 section, Samuel Maclean from Inverness College. Samuel was runner-up in the 2011 competition and has also achieved the distinction of winning this section in 2012.
