The Alabare Big St Pauls Sleepout 26-27 June 2026

Posted on 7 July 2026

On Friday 26th June your Clerk along with 100 or so others including the Lady Mayor, the Sheriff and numerous Masters and Clerks headed to St Pauls to support fundraising for Alabare (rhymes with Cabaret) a charity that works to prevent homelessness and support those who have been homeless to get back to a better living.

Evensong was followed by performances by the Salisbury Plain Military Wives Choir and the British Imperial Military Band. A service followed with moving testimony from 3 formerly homeless Veterans and an Act of Remembrance. The Clerk was very honoured to read the Act of Remembrance in the Cathedral and Colonel Richard Winstanley, Clerk to The Drapers, gave the Kohima Epitaph. His father had fought across the tennis court at the battle with the West Sussex Regiment which added poignancy.
