Carpenters’ and Dockland Centre

The Carpenters and Dockland Centre is a youth, community and social centre providing valuable services to a wide range of residents in the local community. It is located in Stratford, East London close to the Building Crafts College, and its excellent facilities include a sports hall, judo training room, multi-gym and meeting rooms.

The Centre is open from  9.00am to 10.30pm each day, and offers a variety of social, educational and recreational pursuits for the community, from young toddlers to the elderly. As well as offering facilities for sport, the Centre provides a place for a friendly chat and cup of tea. It has a resident Carer and Toddler group, a youth club and activities for the over 50s. It provides a secure environment for children to play after school has finished, and encourages residents of all ages to participate as volunteers.
The Centre developed from Carpenters’ Institute, which was originally established in the 1920s as a social club for residents living in and around the Company’s Stratford estate. The Carpenters’ Company provides substantial financial support to the Centre and members make a valuable input by serving on the management committee.

The Centre is always happy to receive help in the form of volunteers or financial assistance. If you feel you can help, please contact us – no help is too small.
